Welcoming adventurers with a majestic tree by its entrance, Cenote San Eduardo beckons through a 3 m deep hole, descended using a sturdy metal ladder. The base of the ladder opens onto a breakdown mound, leading to two pools on opposite sides of the cave.

Northern Exploration: The Main Pool and Beyond

To the north, a winding path with stone steps guides explorers to the main pool. This 15 m wide by 5 m long pool reveals a breakdown slope extending straight ahead, reaching a maximum depth of 24 m with a penetration of 57 m. In this mesmerizing section, remnants of Mayan pottery and even human bones offer a glimpse into the historical significance of the cave.

Southern Charm: The Second Pool and Shallow Depths

Heading south from the entrance, another breakdown slope leads to the second pool. Illuminated by a small hole in the ceiling, this pool showcases a shallower underwater passage. Within this section, a tight U-shaped tunnel begins from a crack in the wall, providing a captivating underwater experience that concludes just 3 m away.

Cathedral Room Marvels: A Glimpse into Nature’s Artistry

On the right side of the main pool, a small tunnel unfolds, leading to the 30 m diameter circular Cathedral Room. Within this majestic chamber, a large air bell adorns the top, accompanied by a stalactite hanging from the center of the ceiling, penetrating gracefully into the water. While a small, dry passage continues at water level, its tight confines make it inaccessible for exploration.
